About Us

The 21st Waterloo Scout Group serves over 100 youth in the Beechwood, Laurelwood, Westvale, Clair Hills, and Columbia Forest neighbourhoods of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. 21st Waterloo is one of 25 groups in the North Waterloo Area, which is one of 8 areas in the Central Escarpment Council of Scouts Canada. The group is sponsored by Westminster United Church. The Group includes 4 sections:

  • Beaver Scouts, ages 5-7
    • meet Mondays, 6:30-7:30PM at Edna Staebler Public School.
  • Cub Scouts, ages 8-10
    • meet Mondays, 6:30-8:00PM at Empire Public School.
  • Scouts, ages 11-14
    • meet Thursdays, 7:00-8:45PM at Mary Johnston Public School.
  • Venturer Scouts, ages 14-17
    • no Venturer Company this year.

The Cedars, located at 543 Beechwood Drive, Waterloo, is a worship and community centre shared by Westminster United Church and Temple Shalom, a Reform Jewish congregation. 21st Waterloo is run by a Group Committee made up of a Group Commissioner, Secretary, Treasurer, Registrar, Fundraising co-ordinator and the head leaders of each section. All positions are volunteer. The Group Committee oversees the overall operation of the Scouting programs and ensures that all Scouts Canada rules and guidelines are followed. Of primary importance is the safety of the children and youth who are members of the scouting group.
